The annual IPFA Asia conference was held in Taipei in 2016, Yogyakarta in 2017, and in Kuala Lumpur in 2018, emphasizing the importance of this topic for the Asian region. In 2019, the conference was organized by the International Plasma Fractionation Association (IPFA) in collaboration with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion of Vietnam (NIHBT) in March in Hanoi.

Delegates attending the 4th IPFA Conference in Asia will exchange and emphasize the theme: "Technology, regulation, and organizational tools for the production of plasma-derived products", with the main objective being to discuss opportunities and strategies to meet the increasing demands for plasma fractionation and essential plasma-derived medicinal products in the Asian region, while addressing topics including:
- How to attract and select voluntary blood donors
- Screening and diagnostic programs for blood-borne pathogens
- Quality management and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards for regulatory issues in plasma fractionation.
- Product supply strategies to reduce dependence on imported products.
The event will be attended by more than 150 delegates from 21 countries, with Medcomtech participating as one of the 7 sponsors of the program alongside companies such as Abott, Merck, Haemonetics, Roche, Fujirebio, JBPO.
After two days of lively discussions, the 4th IPFA conference in Vietnam concluded with enthusiasm from the delegates, providing much useful information and opening up opportunities as well as challenges for Asian countries in quality management and PDMPs supply activities.
