On May 6, 2025, the National Children's Hospital officially inaugurated the new facility of the Stem Cell Center on the 14th floor of Building A – a significant milestone in the journey to enhance the quality of treatment and healthcare for children using modern technology.
The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere, attended by the Hospital's Board of Directors, department leaders, medical staff, and representatives of strategic partners. Medcomtech Joint Stock Company was honored to participate and send congratulatory flowers at this important event.
Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Dien – Director of the Hospital – emphasized the pivotal role of the Stem Cell Center in treating complex pediatric diseases, especially rare non-communicable and communicable diseases. Established in December 2022, the Center currently includes three units: the Immunology Department, the Stem Cell Transplant Department, and the Stem Cell Bank. After more than two years of operation, the Center has achieved significant accomplishments such as conducting specialized immunological tests, storing about 2,000 stem cell samples from umbilical cord blood, and implementing ex vivo T-cell depletion techniques using magnetic technology – a breakthrough that opens up survival opportunities for pediatric patients with only 50% donor match compatibility.
The new facility is modernly invested, including three transplant rooms meeting international standards, equipped with HEPA air filtration systems, maintaining positive pressure, and optimal fine dust control, ensuring a strictly sterile environment for effective treatment. These conditions help achieve the highest treatment and care effectiveness for pediatric patients, providing peace of mind for families.
The inauguration not only marks a new advancement for the National Children's Hospital in the field of regenerative medicine but also demonstrates a strong commitment to applying stem cell technology in practice, hoping that with the new modern facility, high professional expertise, and dedication, the Stem Cell Center will continue to write miraculous stories, bringing smiles and a bright future to pediatric patients.
