On November 25, 2022, Medcomtech Joint Stock Company was honored to receive the Best Patient Blood Management Partner in SEA award presented by Werfen Group. This is the third year Medcomtech has received this award since 2018, 2019. The Best BPM Partner is the highest award given by Werfen to distributors and partners in the Southeast Asia region, who have made contributions and dedicated efforts in implementing PBM in Vietnam.
Patient Blood Management – abbreviated as PBM, is a set of clinical practice measures designed to optimize the care of patients who may need blood transfusions. The focus of the method is individualized target treatment, including blood transfusion therapy and pharmacological therapy. Furthermore, the applicability of PBM is not only limited to surgical cases but can also be applied to other clinical situations where significant blood loss occurs and where blood product transfusion is an established part of treatment.
PBM is fundamentally based on three pillars: (1) Optimization of red blood cell volume (pre-surgery), (2) Reduction of blood loss in diagnosis, treatment, or surgery, and (3) Increasing individual tolerance to anemia and precise activation of blood transfusion. Among these, the ROTEM test is an indispensable part of the second PBM pillar to minimize blood loss. The ROTEM test allows for rapid assessment of coagulation disorders, enabling targeted treatment, aiding in hemostasis, and reducing blood transfusions.
