On September 12, 2017, Medcomtech JSC was honored to host a seminar at the Poison Control Center of Bach Mai Hospital with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ha Tran Hung – Deputy Director of the Center, MSc Le Quang Thuan – Deputy Director of the Center, Dr. Dang Thi Xuan – Deputy Director of the Center, and many leading doctors of the Center. At the seminar, the Rotem blood clot elasticity analysis device received a lot of attention from the Center and was identified as a new tool to help doctors better control coagulation disorders in patients with infections and poisoning. Especially its on-site application and rapid effectiveness for patient clinical outcomes. The seminar revolved around the following topics:
– Application of Rotem in Vietnam: The Rotem device is increasingly being widely used due to its high applicability and effectiveness. Many major hospitals across the country have implemented Rotem as a routine test to quickly assess coagulation disorders and provide effective treatment directions. These include the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Bach Mai Hospital, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, National Cancer Hospital, Vinmec International General Hospital, Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City, and Tu Du Hospital.
– Application of Rotem in infections: The report by Dr. Tran Thi Kieu My – lecturer at Hanoi Medical University cited global studies, highlighting Rotem tests that help reduce the use of blood products, decrease blood loss, and increase patient survival rates.
– Application of analysis in some clinical cases using Rotem tests: In Dr. Tran Thi Kieu My's report, several recent notable clinical cases assisted by ROTEM tests were presented, such as liver transplant cases at Viet Duc Hospital, postpartum hemorrhage cases, coagulation disorder cases after hip surgery, Vater's ampulla cancer cases, traditional medicine poisoning cases, streptococcus suis cases, etc. Through the analysis of clinical cases, ROTEM tests were highly appreciated by doctors at the Center for the following points:
+ Helps quickly diagnose and determine the amount of blood products needed for transfusion thanks to the guideline that has been published and applied worldwide + Significantly reduces the amount of blood products needed for transfusion, reducing the risk of coagulation disorders, shortening hospital stays, and lowering costs for patients + Using ROTEM improves outcome when accompanied by treatment changes.
