On November 29, 2017, the National Lung Hospital organized a scientific workshop titled: Rapid Assessment and Treatment Recommendations for Coagulation Disorders Using ROTEM® delta Testing. The workshop was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Viết Nhung – Director of the Hospital, MSc. Dr. Võ Trọng Thành – Head of Hematology – Blood Transfusion Department, Specialist Level II Dr. Đoàn Văn Hiển – Head of Intensive Care Department, Specialist Level II Dr. Nguyễn Thành Long – Head of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Department, MSc. Đặng Văn Khiêm – Deputy Head of Oncology Department, and many leading doctors of the Hospital. At the workshop, the ROTEM blood clot elasticity analysis device received a lot of positive feedback from the Board of Directors and department leaders due to its high applicability to lung-related diseases such as hemoptysis, cancer surgery, arterial and venous embolism, DIC, etc. Especially its on-site application and rapid effectiveness for patient clinical outcomes. Specific content of the workshop:
Clinical manifestations of coagulation disorders: This is always the most common concern of clinicians because for a specific patient case, what diagnosis should be made, what tests should be used, and how to manage it. At the seminar, Dr. Trần Thị Kiều My – Lecturer at Hanoi Medical University presented detailed and specific issues related to clinical coagulation disorders such as the causes of coagulation disorders, the types of tests available, along with typical clinical cases to provide quick, accurate, and effective management directions. Particularly, in her report, Dr. Trần Thị Kiều My emphasized the issue of hypercoagulability, arterial and venous thrombosis – which is less concerned compared to bleeding issues but causes many serious diseases.
Application of ROTEM in Vietnam and in specific clinical cases: Dr. Trần Thị Kiều My's report cited global research and recent notable clinical cases in Vietnam using the ROTEM® delta machine, such as using the ROTEM machine to monitor coagulation disorders in liver transplantation, trauma, drug poisoning, cancer surgery, etc. Through clinical cases, the ROTEM® delta device has been highly appreciated by doctors at the hospital for its ability to provide quick and timely diagnoses, reduce the use of blood products, decrease blood loss, and increase patient survival rates.
Also, the following week, upon receiving an invitation and proposal from the Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Department of the National Lung Hospital, Medcomtech JSC was honored to organize a seminar with the participation of numerous doctors and technicians from the Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Department. Through the report and analysis of clinical cases by Dr. Trần Thị Kiều My, the ROTEM test was highly appreciated by the doctors in the department for the following points:
+ Helps provide a quick diagnosis and determine the amount of blood products needed for transfusion thanks to guidelines that have been published and applied worldwide
+ Significantly reduces the amount of blood products needed for transfusion, thereby reducing the risk of coagulopathy, shortening hospital stays, and lowering costs for patients
+ Using ROTEM improves outcomes when accompanied by changes in treatment
