On July 11, 2018, Medcomtech Joint Stock Company was honored to organize a Scientific Workshop at the Intensive Care and Toxicology Department – Bai Chay Hospital, Quang Ninh Province, with the participation of Dr. Le Ky Truong – Head of the Intensive Care and Toxicology Department, along with many department leaders and leading doctors at the hospital. During the workshop, the doctors discussed coagulation disorders in clinical practice, particularly the practical application of the ROTEM® Delta blood clot elasticity analyzer.
Accompanying the workshop was Dr. Tran Kieu My – Lecturer in the Hematology Department – Hanoi Medical University, and Head of the Coagulation Department – National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Kieu My summarized the ROTEM machine, its indications in some typical cases such as: liver transplantation, severe bleeding, and the application of ROTEM in diagnosing hypercoagulability.
Following that, Dr. Kieu My presented the practical application of ROTEM in specific clinical cases: procedural intervention for patients with hepatitis B, cirrhosis (ROTEM determines whether the patient is eligible for intervention, ensuring the correct and sufficient blood product transfusion during intervention), treatment protocols for cancer patients post-surgery with coagulation disorders, and notably the case of a patient who was resuscitated after 5 days of cardiac arrest at Bach Mai Hospital.
At the end of the workshop, the doctors in the department were very interested and asked many questions to the presenter. Through the scientific session and the practical treatment application at many major hospitals nationwide, ROTEM® Delta is increasingly proving its effectiveness in diagnosis and treatment, bringing benefits to patients, thereby gaining more trust from medical staff.
